sock sloth

We finally owned 3 sloths at home… hmmm…. I mean “sock sloth” to be exact! I always wanted to own a sloth, well, not the real endangered species sloth but a sloth plushie that is huggable and less maintenance work. So, here it is, I designed and sewed a sloth plushie pattern from a pair of chenille socks. Check out the free pattern and tutorial of the sock sloth named “Smie”!

I fell in love with this sluggish slow moving little animal when I first saw a baby sloth in a documentary TV show a few years ago.   Ohhhh… the eyes, the smiles and the movements, the sloth is just too cute to handle. It moves so slow that make people want to carry it to go faster instead of letting it clawing and dragging on the ground in the speed of a snail. The sloths are vulnerable and helpless species, protection is needed for fear that they become extinct!

Smie, the sock sloth is a 16″ long animal plushie sewed from a pair of stripe brown / gray chenille socks. It has a 3 toes on each limb which is made out of beige felt. Smie has a smiling face and a pair of big groggy eyes surrounded by the brown marking. Magnets can be sewn to the limbs as an option, so that the sock sloth can do more poses and more fun to play with.
