Are you looking for a cute, adorable animal doll amigurumi to crochet? Here you are…. a free sheep amigurumi pattern and tutorial to share with you. I have got the idea to design and crochet this Sheep Amigurumi, Sunnia, out of my very popular sock sheep free pattern. They are cousins from different material, Sunnia was crochet from fuzzy yarn while the sock sheep was sewed from socks. Besides the usual written pattern and step by step picture tutorial, this time I have developed a video to show the summary process to make Sunnia. The 21 minutes video includes the detail on:
- how to crochet with fuzzy in amigurumi,
- how to crochet part of normal yarn and part of fuzzy yarn in amigurumi,
- how to crochet in stripes with fuzzy yarn in amigurumi,
- how to undone the stitches if you have made a mistake,
- the assembly of the sheep amigurumi.
Sunnia, the sheep amigurumi is crochet by ultra soft coral fleece fuzzy yarn and acrylic yarn with 3mm crochet hook. It measures about 10 inch tall, wearing a soft coral fleece hoodie suit with a detachable the hood. When the hood is taken down, it exposes the little plot of hair at the top of Sunnia’s head.
You can adapt the pattern to create a ram by simply add a pair of horn to the head. The horn pattern is included in the pattern page as optional pattern.
I have received some feedback fro reader and crocheter that they have difficulty in handling fuzzy yarn when Mei Li shared her Panda Amigurumi here in Craft Passion. So, I took a look and try it out myself, and I find that it wasn’t that tricky to crochet fuzzy yarn. Due to the nature of the fuzzy yarn, the problem many crocheters were facing was we can’t actually see clearly on where to insert our hook as the yarn was covered by the fuzzy fibres around them. We have got this problem solved by pairing the yarn with another strand of normal yarn. The normal yarn will give us a hint on where to insert the hook. The method I used could be a little different from others, watch the video on the tutorial page to find out how I do it. This method also allows you to add fuzzy yarn or remove fuzzy in part of the round in amigurumi without changing hook size. Another feedback about crochet with fuzzy yarn was it is difficult to undone the stitches, I have this technique covered as well, now you can just pull the yarn out smoothly to undone the stitches and correct the mistake.
This 21 minutes video took me weeks to complete it single handedly. I have recorded hours and hours of video, not to mention tenths of photos taken in between and after the video. Days after I have all the videos and photos ready for processing, again, I spent hours and hours sitting in front of my computer to edit it and make the flow of the clip as smooth as possible. Hopefully I have streamlined all the information to show you how to crochet this darling sheep amigurumi.
Don’t wait anymore, grab your yarns and start crochet Sunnia in no time.
